A motorcycle riding trip from Delhi to Lansdowne

by Riderz Planet 28 Feb 2020 0 comments

There are many destinations that comes to mind when you talk about either a weekend trip or a short vacation from Delhi. Places like Shimla, Mussoorie and Rishikesh tend to become the preferred choice; but another place that not many motorcyclists consider is Lansdowne, located in the Pauri Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. It offers a scenic pleasure to eyes and qualifies to be a solace for motorcyclists.

Why A Biker Should Visit Lansdowne?

One major reason is that the place is quite within reach, especially if one is new to motorcycle touring. One rides through plains; and it is only the last 35 to 40 kilometres that involves riding in the hills. Roads are mostly good except for a few bad patches in between. A ride to Lansdowne will not be too long and tiring and once you hit the hilly area you will definitely scrape them pegs before you enter Lansdowne.
At the very entrance of the Lansdowne checkpoint you will find 2 stalls on your left side where you can have Maggi/Chai and get your winter liners on as the temperature will start decreasing from there onwards.

Also, the entire region is very clean due to the Army presence here and well maintained so try not to throw any waste here and there because you might get yourself in trouble. Lansdowne is quiet, less crowded, not over developed, a bit undiscovered and one of the most tranquil hill stations of India. Away from the hustle-bustle associated with other tourist spots, the calm environment enriched with natural beauty of Lansdowne will enthral you for sure.

Mechanic in Lansdowne
Mechanics are available here but only for small fixes. For any major repairs, you will have to either take your vehicle down to Kotdwar, and if that too doesn’t work then the nearest help can be found in Meerut or Muzaffarnagar.

How to reach Lansdowne from Delhi
There can be of course multiple routes but we will explain the easiest and the best one as we perceive. .
Delhi – Ghaziabad – Modinagar – Meerut – Khatauli – Mirapur – Bijnor – Najibabad – Kotdwar – Lansdowne
Entire journey will be of about 250 kilometres, doable in 6 to 7 hours depending upon your ability and halts. The roads are awesome From Delhi till Khatauli, and one has a national highway to take via Meerut. Leave the highway At Khatauli and take the road towards Bijnor via Mirapur. The road is a two-lane highway from here but mostly in good condition till Kotdwar.

A couple of Churches and a popular Devi temple too.
